How It All Started
I started Boy Butter in 2003 in NYC after an inspirational job at Nasty Pig, where I worked under the founders, David and Fred.
The name Boy Butter came from tweaking the euphemism "baby batter" as the perfect tongue-in-cheek name for a lube targeted at gay men. I wanted to create an oil-based cream lube and market it in fun packaging inspired by, well, butter. Boy Butter Original resembles actual butter, offering the longevity of silicone-based lubes while being washable with water alone. Initially, it was a hobby, but after seeing the potential, I decided to go full throttle.
I started out by roaming around Chelsea with a red wagon, passing out samples of Boy Butter to folks on the street, and sold it to adult shops door to door.
